Governance

We are established for the public charitable purpose of providing relief to community causes, including poverty, misfortune, disability, suffering, helplessness, disease and illness in Australia and overseas.

We are registered with, and subject to orders, rules and regulations of:

  • the Australian Securities and Investments Commission

  • the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission

  • Consumer Affairs Victoria

  • the Australian Taxation Office.

We are a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), being registered as an Item 2 Charity with the ATO. This brings additional regulatory requirements, including under our Constitution.

We operate under the Rules of the Association and our Trust Deed, which sets out how funds are to be managed and distributed.

Privacy

DDW respects and is committed to maintaining the privacy of all Members and Donors. As part of the donation process we seek to collect basic information from donors, including names, email addresses, amount of donations, and commencement date of donations. Such information will only be used for compilation of statistical data in relation to donations received and disbursed and communicating with donors individually. On occasion, we may need to share this information on a confidential basis with specialists we engage to assist us in this work, e.g. consultants, IT specialists etc. At all times, every effort will be taken to ensure the confidentiality of personal information is maintained.

Membership

In addition to being a donor, membership gives you the opportunity to attend Annual General Meetings and have a say in the management of the organisation. Members may also nominate for a position on the Board of Directors.

Members pay an annual membership fee of $52.00 (or $20.00 for Concession Members). If you'd like to become a member, click here.
